  1. Identify goals and types of species the landscape could possibly support.
  2. Create  partnerships with local governments, NGOs , and universities to provide expertise and assistance in identifying and supporting native plants and fauna.
  3. Evaluate whether shade structures or canopies are appropriate for the site.
  4. Protect existing habitat; create new habitat and areas for forage.
  5. Communicate habitat-enhancement projects to maintenance staff, gardeners, embassy employees , and the general public.
