Walk to Work Day

Both staff and students at the Department’s Foreign Service Institute (FSI) participated in National Walk to Work Day in April 2012, and promoted the event by holding a Walk to Work sign while they walked.5 The event was organized by the FSI Wellness Committee, which encourages activities that contribute to the health and wellness of FSI employees.

Bike to Work Day

Every year, the State Department celebrates Bike to Work Day in DC, hosting a ‘pit stop’ for riders with snacks, coffee, music, and tools in front of the headquarters building.  In 2016, in response to growing demand, the State Department and the District government inaugurated a new Capital BikeShare dock in front of HST, which adds to our other new BikeShare dock at FSI.  Green Teams are saddling up as well: several posts participate regularly in bike diplomacy.
